Mom-of-two Beverley Mitchell and husband Michael Cameron celebrated their son Hutton‘s third birthday party on Sunday (Jan. 28) at Meri Cherry Art Studio in Tarzana, Calif.
Joined by 12 of his closest pals — and, of course, his big sister Kenzie, 4 — the adorable preschooler had a blast at his arts-and-crafts inspired bash.
The 7th Heaven alum, 37, opened up to Celebrity Babies exclusively about the hands-on party, her thoughts on kids’ birthday bashes these days, and the possibility of adding to their brood.
CB: Tell us all about Hutton’s 3rd birthday party. What was the highlight of your day? His day?
BM: “I have to say the best part of Hutt’s birthday was watching them all in their element. They got to play, to get messy, to be creative. It was nice for all of the adults to step back and let them go in such a creative and free space. They had so much fun, and to see them interact and engage is just the best!”
CB: Tell us about some of the products you had on hand at his birthday bash.
BM: “We got our desserts from my favorite, Polkatots Cupcakes — Mel is always my go-to for every party. Her cupcake cake is always a hit, and, honestly, I don’t do a party without Mel. Her chocolate covered pretzels were quite the hit.
As for gifts, I am known for sending guests home with a bounty of goodies — it makes me happy to celebrate our friends who come out to celebrate my kids. I first reached out to Art 2 the Extreme for the name crayons. I thought those are just a special and unique gift. So, each guest went home with custom made crayons of their name.
I also had these adorable bags from Ju-Ju-Be, the Be Ready Tokidoki bags, so the kids could make it their little art bags. We also had Mabel’s Labels for each child, because, let’s be real, you always need personalized stickers for your kids to label all of their stuff. We also had adorable snack bags and ponchos from Stephen Joseph Gifts.
And for the adults, we had my favorite: La Croix!”
CB: Any plans for Kenzie’s upcoming 5th birthday in March?
BM: “Kenzie is really into fairies, so it looks like we might be having a fairy party.”
CB: Did you have huge birthday parties as a young girl? What are your thoughts on the evolution of birthday bashes these days?
BM: “Being an only child, birthdays were always a big deal to me — probably why I make them a big deal for the kids. I just love doing something special and fun with all their little friends. It is also fun because some of our family friends we don’t see very often, so we all get together for birthdays to celebrate. I try not to go overboard, but, yeah, I do throw a kids party that I would even love as an adult.”
CB: What’s up next for you? Any upcoming projects? Maybe plans for another beautiful baby?
BM: Season 2 of Hollywood Darlings premieres April 18th on POPTV, so that is really exciting. This season is so funny and I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy it. I have a few projects in the works and who knows about Baby No. 3 — we will just have to wait and see.”
